Explore the various walking trails on the estate or perhaps enjoy a round of golf before your treatment on either of our championship golf courses. Service here is significantly more assured than at the hotel’s other F&B venues. During my busy weekend stay, guests were required to pre-book a time slot for breakfast. This felt cumbersome, and with dishes all served á la carte, overwhelmed staff still struggled to keep pace.

A standard in Fairmont-managed properties, highly perfumed toiletries are by New York’s Le Labo. Gorgeous food, beautiful hotel, lovely walks in the grounds, dog friendly and overall just wonderful! Staff were all very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We did a tour of the house with the Head Concierge and it was very interesting. The facilities far exceeded our expectations. Our only regret is we were there such a short time.

Our room was fantastic & the staff upon greeting outside to check in were brilliant. Staff throughout the hotel were fab but the service was poor. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the warmth of Irish Hospitality, most notably by the concierge "Locke" (Forgive my misspelling) he is a true hotelier always anticipating our needs. We had a fabulous evening in the Carriage house - I believe it was Emma who took care of us wonderfully. Breakfast each morning was scrumptious with thats to Eunice who was so charming and caring to our large family. Dinner in KK was a true indulgence as Vincent, Finn and the team made us feel like Royalty. Our family weekend was then complete by the gracious and kind hospitality of Shane and Ciaran in the Golf Club - two of the very best. Carton House is the proud home of the Golfing Union of Ireland.

An imposing Palladian pile, Carton House was designed in 1739 by celebrated architect of the day, Richard Castle, and was initially home to the upper class FitzGeralds – a flamboyant family with a profligate streak. Remodelled by architect Richard Morrison in 1817, fast forward almost two centuries and the property was turned into a hotel in 2000, where two championship golf courses were arguably the biggest draw. More recently, the estate found its way into the hands of the Irish-American Mullen family, owners of the US-based Apple Vacations. An extensive two-year renovation has put the estate’s aristocratic appeal firmly back centre stage and on a par with Ireland’s other luxury leaders. The 18 new rooms in the main house are the ones to book and channel a refined, unchintzy look with custom printed heritage wallpapers and unfussy fabrics that let the original features like marble fireplaces and wooden floors sing.
